Brinkley Benoit

Giant Student of the Month

Our Giant Student of the Month for August 2025 is Brinkley Benoit, 7th grader at Gentry Junior School.

Brinkley’s journey this year is marked by brilliance, dedication, and a powerful commitment to giving a voice to those who are often unheard. This summer, she earned first place in the Junior Individual Documentary category at the prestigious National History Day (NHD) competition in Washington, D.C.—a remarkable accomplishment that showcased both her talent and passion. Her documentary, “The Great IDEA: Speaking for Those Who Cannot Speak for Themselves,” captured hearts and minds as it explored the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the responsibility our society holds in protecting the educational rights of students with intellectual disabilities.

Her thoughtful and compelling documentary, created around this year’s NHD theme, “Rights and Responsibilities,” stood out among more than 100 submissions, earning Brinkley a gold medal, a $1,000 prize, and national recognition.

Beyond the awards, Brinkley represents Goose Creek CISD’s proud tradition of excellence, contributing to the district’s 33rd consecutive year of producing national history fair competitors. Her success shines as a testament to her hard work, resilience, and her ability to use knowledge as a tool for advocacy and change.

Brinkley is more than a champion—she is an inspiration. Her dedication to learning, empathy, and determination define what it means to be a Giant.

Thank you to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital for sponsoring this award.
